How to: Liftgate Emergency Switch
Liftgate Emergency Switch - Add A 2nd Switch:
This is an update from Snoopy's Thread about the location of the Liftgate.
It was asked if you can make a Switch of some type to open the liftgate, and the answer is yes, and this is how it's done.
Items Needed:
1.) Soldering Iron
2.) 29/64" Drill Bit
3.) Heat Shrink - (I'm Anal about my Work)
4.) 20 Gauge Wire - Red/Black
5.) Switch - I used Radio Shack #:275-609 - Comes with 2 Switches. I used the Red One. The Black one will be mounted somewhere else to open from Driver's Seat.
6.) 29/64" Drill Bit
Follow The Picture Instructions:

Thanks!
thanks for the great how to. it would be little more work , but i would rather put the switch in a different location, up higher , so that cargo doesn't accidentally bump it while going down the road.

yeah i first thought this was to add a better manual release.
cool idea though, but with the weight of the lift gate, if you had a button up by the driver, it would unlatch it, but the hatch wouldn't open it right? I don't think that if i went to the back of mine and just clicked the button, it wouldn't swing up.

I want to put a switch up front. I would be interested in making it open automatically, maybe with a popper??? Thoughts?

i don't get enough sleep
when you open the door , it only takes a little pull , then the shocks do the rest. so i would think that most any popper would work with a little tweeking , shims, mounting in just the right spot. it would be nice to have totaled hhr to work with , to get it right. you may also find a little bit stronger shock.

Ok, Now the dreaded "Did you take a clear Pic of the manual latch area when you had the plastic off the hatch?"
Both of the How-to's were well done.. Pass the BBQ Sauce, Please..
