13" Viper brake upgrade
I have mentioned this in a couple of threads so I thought I might should show some pictures of how it looks. It really fills up the wheel nicely. After we got all the measurements done and made the prototype, it was smooth sailing. Takes less than an hour to install.
Here is the stock rotor compared to the 13" Viper rotor.
Here is stock compared to the Viper rotors installed.
And with the wheels mounted.
Sorry some of the pictures are blurry. I'm going to take them all back apart and paint everything soon and put on better pads, then I will take some better pictures.

Stopping is noticeably better. I expect it to be even better with a high quality set of ceramic pads. I think the best long term performance gain over these is shedding heat. We had nothing but trouble with heat and stock rotors. The fact that it looks cool as H-E-double toothpicks makes it even better.
I just used the stock calipers on mine. I have read where people say that is not a good performance gain. I have to disagree. If I were building a race car or something where I needed to stop quickly from 180mph I might have gone with the Corvette rotors as well. (Brembos wouldn't work with my wheels.)These are a huge improvement over stock and great for street use... maybe more, I just don't drive my wife's HHR like that! haha... For $450, this kit fits me a lot better than the $1200+ kits.

Yes I see you have used the stock calipers. I agree with better pads will yeild more yet..
Nice Job..
Yes if I was driving & needing to stop super fast (constantly) I would also add braided brake lines also.. But I'm not a racer, anymore..

Yep, same here Songman....
Still nothing wrong with greatly improving stopping power..Great Mod !!!
Never know when you'll need it.. Rather have it & never need it, than .........
(now ya got me thinking).

One of the issues that the guy who made these for me has to deal with is whether or not they will fit stock wheels. My wheels are 18s with a different offset and have a huge curve inward at the top. I have between 1/16th and 1/8th inch clearance at the caliper. We need to find someone near Tehachapi, CA that will let us put a stock wheel on my HHR to see clearance. Then we are going to start working on making the same thing work for the rear.

Thanks Dan. I look forward to meeting you.
I am not familiar with differences between the SS and other HHRs. Does anyone know if the suspension is different? Are the wheels different other than in appearance? Thanks.
