Competitive Driving Mode....

Not to sound like an idiot....but I have never used it yet. I usually leave the traction control on.....Anyone here drive with it on all the time? I plan on trying it as soon as I get out of work today.....but figured I would ask now since I am bored out of my mind....

Push it twice and drop it into "I" gear(auto), WOT and smile.

What does the comp mode actually do, aside from turning off the traction control and leaving the ESC active (i think)?

No lift shift if you have a 5 SP.

what does putting it in "I" do for the auto. I drive quite often through town w/ it in competive mode, but never in "I".

I don't think it would be much different from doing it in a non-SS model. It holds the gears out longer, doesn't shift into overdrive, and you can actually feel the transmission downshift. It's kinda like the "Sport Mode" some manufacturers offer on their automatics

Around here, there's a couple of long, winding roads that I love haulin a$$ on. That's about the only time it sees the "I" gear, setting, option or whatever you want to call it

almost always in the "I" gear

especially when around town and 40 mph or under.....always in the Comp (Launch control) mode, except when there are wet roads.....only use "D" when on the highway........more power, better response, just more fun to drive in that "I" gear when you can, downshifting you can put it in "I" or leave it in "D" for either part throttle or WOT passing gear....you will find in what situations to do either or.......and you will see how the surging is affected and how best to eliminate it.....besides keeping your clamps tight, and from what I have read here, I do think that with a better IC pipe and intake tube after the air box, the surging would be eliminated completely and throttle response would improve even that much better....of course I have the Hahn (BSR) tune for over 20,000 miles, just turned 32,000 today and it runs as good as when I first put in it.
side comment about the Superchips tuner, had one on my 04 GTO, and it was unreal.....if it was out over a year ago, I would have gone with that....big $$$ difference, but I have no regrets with the BSR tune......

Around town driving in I is a blast! Been using that option since the day I got it, and is still one of the best things I discovered about the car.
