Cut hood - Cold Air Intake
#13
I like the concept and have been kicking around ideas for mine (That's all they are, ideas since I'm in no way a body guy lol). I was thinking of a scoop like the ones the SRT-4's have, either the Neons or the Calibers. That way it's tucked into the hoodline (no protrusions to alter the aerodynamics). IMHO it would flow with the body lines of our HHR's. I like yours though :)

It's ok.
As long as you don't end up with something like this:

I have to give you credit, that is commitment! Many of us have talked about doing this, but as far as I know you are the first to actually cut the hood. I think you would get plenty of nice cold air while moving, and I would think there would be positive pressure which may give you a slight bump in power.
Not sure about the rain/snow issue as there are drain holes in the airbox and not sure if it would soak the filter? If the filter did get soaked, you may run into trouble in the winter with freezing, but not sure? you'll just have to watch it and deal with what happens.
I am not a fan of the yellow, but other than that, I love the look.
Congrats on having the guts to do it.
