Well heres where i'm at.
With a new spectre free flow filter placed right under the scoop ,The SS was running faster than ever, I was seeing boost at 17-18 psi , 2-3 psi more than i had ever seen . After about 2 days i had a turbo overboost issue that cut the turbo out. So i'm back to the stock filter until i get a tune. To much air was being forced into the untuned engine. So prior to geting a tune i will reinstall the new air filter directly under the scoop. Then it's RAM time !
It was scary fast for about 40 hours after the new filter and change of filter position. (original fender hose has been removed and the hole blocked off.
The scoop was purchased with no holes in it. There are some pics in my gallery. Anybody got $600.00 bucks they really don't need ?

sorry if I missed this, but do you have the "stage kit", I thought I read that the ECM dumbs down the engine without it. BTW...I LOVE IT!!!!!

Thanks , Nope no tune, So after a few no lift redline shifts i get an overboost turbo shut down. i just don't have the cash right now. I will say it drives scary fast during those no lift shifts , untill the computer realizes theres more air being ramed down its throat than the computer will tolerate.

I have a LUND hood scoop(part#80003)it looks to me to be the same thing you have.can you confirm? I have not installed yet do to the weather(no heat in garage) not sure if i am going to make it functional,will it kill the warranty? BTW that looks great

My scoop was in a lund box, but it was not the scoop per the box, but is is a lund scoop. Bargin bin 19 bucks. If your gonna open up your hood plan on a tune for sure, with a ram afect you will see a big increase in power. For about 3 mins. , I was like , Oh my god, This is wicked, and then the buzz kill. , It will probally have an over boost turbo cut out within a couple mins. A disconnect of the battery will reset the turbo. Mine never threw a code, The turbo just cut out untill a battery disconect to reset. I did it three or four times and put the cover back over the large spectre filter ( just attaching the back and left side cover screws ,which left the cover up 2 inches at a point just under the scoop ,giving it a bit more air)and it was fine for a couple of days, untill i got on it 4-5 times in a row, then turbo cutout. With a tune , I think it will be benificial, Because it is without a tune , But the computer just won't take it.

One of my mods, on my list was a hood scoop.
Just ordered one today. Should be here in three or four days.
It's a z28 camero type scoop [rear facing opening] 26" long x18" wide X 2 1/2" high. It will be configured to pull hot air from engine compartment. With the Trifeca tune, I'm getting enough cool air. Should be on in about a week or so.
Then frt. air splitters, and rear bumper diffuser next, then lowering and wheels.

I stuck a camera in the stock spot that the SS gets it's air from (fender well)
As you can see, theres not a lot of room for any turbulant air to be a bonus to the intake, Agreed ?

I think a rear facing scoop would help the IC flow better..whats that you said about air stacking up in the eng bay? Though I'm not so sure, I have one on my 89 S'rado and it actually sucks air in.....but since I'm lowered it might be in reaction to a strong under vehicle vacuum.....where some vehicles start lifting around 90 this truck sucks down,,tested in Germany on the Autobahn at 130mph plus....
