Downpipe and Exhaust

Alright, I'm not much of a poster, more of a lurker. I have been running some searches and just want to confirm some information prior to taking the plunge, so I appreciate any help y'all can give me.

Catless downpipe - Stainless Works or ZZP? Which is the general consensus as the better pipe?

Full exhaust - same question, Stainless Works or ZZP?

Unfortunately, I am going to have to build this in pieces as I have the extra cash. I am looking at starting with the catless downpipe from ZZP plugged into the stock exhaust. I see that you can get this is either 2.5" or 3" spec. Since I am going to be upgrading the exhaust to a full 3" system, can I go ahead and get the 3" downpipe and will it work with the 2.5" stock system? Is there a flange or something to connect the two?

I know that once I install the downpipe, I will throw codes. Not too worried about that. Once the exhaust is in, I plan on getting in touch with Trifecta and loading their stealth tune so that should square everything away.

TIA

ZZP makes the best downpipe, in my honest opinion. great quality & craftsmanship. go with theirs.

as for the catback..... the stock is about 2.75", but sssssshhhhh it's a secret. haha!

as far as i know, the Magnaflow catback is the only "made for HHR" catback available BUT catbacks for the Cobalt SS Turbo will fit but it may stick out the bumper a bit too far. the Cobalts have a longer bumper than the HHRs.

the downpipe will bolt directly in place of the factory downpipe.

Thanks Rally. I was only looking at the Stainless Works or ZZP for cost. I thought I saw something about Bart running the Stainless Works setup, so I thought it would work (its about $150 cheaper).

Do you happen to know the difficulty in installing the downpipe/exhaust yourself? Just bolt in right?

i'm not familiar with Stainless Works. Bart is currently running a side exit exhaust, i forget the brand tho. maybe he can come in here and clarify this.

i'm selling my magnaflow catback for $325 + shipping if you're interested.

if you have access to a lift it makes installation soooo much easier. but i can give you some quick tips to help the downpipe installation whether it's on a lift or jack stands.

removal:
1. remove the o2 sensor
2. take off the 4 nuts/bolts from where the dp bolts to the turbo o2 housing
3. take the catback off the hanger before the rear axle assembly
(this will allow the exhaust to hang down, you'll thank me later)
4. take off the 3 nuts from where the dp bolts to the catback

installation is just the steps above from 4 - 1.

definitely, thanks again!

I'm liking the look of the system on Modern Performance. definitely, liking the price. As long as it fits, that could work for me.

Just want to make sure I get the right part from ZZP. Is the following setup correct?

Offroad downpipe with standard O2 bung

Do I need the gaskets (front and rear)?

Thanks

On a side note, I found the Magnaflow cat back for our vehicles for $450 yesterday, so I'll have to pick one of those up to I guess.
