A Important Non TSB for Stage Kit Install

I had an issue where I had the wastegate popping at different speed and pressure.

I found a GM Tech web site that covered the installation tips on the stage kit.

It is recommended to make sure your AC compressor and AC lines are relocated away from the lower map sensor. Under hard acceleration the engine can torque over and make contact and you then lose pressure.

Mine had an issue when the new intake tube was replaced after the map blew out taking the tube with it. Finding this issue on the web site solved the issue as there is no TSB on this yet and the techs are not informed on this yet.

Thank you for this. I'm getting my kit installed next week, so I'm compiling a list of non TSB items for them since I'll be their first install.

Here is what they posted

INSTALLATION ISSUES

TIP: Check SI for relevant bulletins. At the time of this printing, there are two known bulletins: PIP4551 and PIP4559.

No start -- most likely due to wires 1 and 3 crossed in the inlet duct TMAP sensor.

P2227 code set -- (1) The reprogramming may not have completed correctly. (2) The car may have been driven on the new sensors without reprogramming.

TIP: It takes 2 key cycles for code P2227 to set. Be sure to cycle the key at least twice before turning the vehicle over to the customer.

Sensor contacts the AC line on HHR -- bend AC line slightly.

P0236 code set -- (1) Only one sensor was replaced (on HHR SS, the TMAP on the inlet duct is difficult to access). (2) TMAP on inlet duct wired wrong (terminal 1 mistaken for terminal 4).

- Thanks to Bill Duncan

I saw one other that said AC compressor too.

Now if they just come out with the TSB about the MAF sensor being bad we'd be ok...Copied this off another forum:
Bad MAP sensor on 08 ss
Hey this is my first post and boy do I have something to talk about...

I have a 08 ss and decided to go aftermarket and get a tune and a intake for my car. I purchased a HAHN cai and had a friend with hp tuners flash the pcm. He installed the solstice's version of the gm stage kit, and it made a world of diffrence. Stock I was boosting 14psi and after intake install the learn down feature kicked me down to 7psi @ wot in 3rd gear, after tunning I was hitting 22psi falling to 20. I had the car dynoed it turned 308.5hp and 343tq needless to say I was very happy with my decision to go aftermarket. This past weekend it bite me in the ass, the car now has a cel for the MAP sensor low voltage and various misfires. I called a bud at a chevy dealership and he said that the MAP sensor is on national backorder and would take a while to come in...

Here's what I want to know...

What sensors are in the gm kit? I believe one was a MAP sensor

Since I'm running higher boost is it possible that it shortend the life of the sensor and will continue to do so if I dont get the MAP sensor in the gm kit?

alright I'll check back in later and see what you guys think...

if you have any useful info or links to the part # in the kit please help a fella out

you arent the only one, thankfully i have a full completely true answer... me and a buddy both ran into the same issue, same code, everything. happens to be that this buddy is the main tech at the local dealership, and he called the engineers about it. they said that there's a metal piece within the map sensor that after a couple of times hitting the boost over 22 psi, that metal piece will bend, and cause the low voltage, ur map is gone. now, the only way to fix this and get around this, according to the engineer, is reduce the boost. my buddy asked him why only a couple of us are having this issue, the engineer told him that we just must be pushing more boost, more often. i have gone through 2 map sensors, but then again my boost guage is reading that i spike 30psi and am boosting like 26, so i dunno how much boost you are running, but at this moment theres nothing u can do.

i even looked into getting the gm 3 bar map sensor, only issue with that is that these pcm's dont read that op system without the stage kit....so until u get that stage kit, ur just going have to keep replacing it.

I also have an aftermarket tune that has caused the same problem. I am putting on the gm upgrade to fix the map sensor. The stock map sensors are failing a lot when you are boosting over 23 lb

Maybe Chevy MGR can list the TSB's and install tips we have all in a sticky under 2.0 or SS titles.

It would be nice to post them like the TSB thread with no comments just facts.

Also including problems encountered and what was done to fix would not hurt either.

GM has made this kit alearning experiance for the dealer techs. In my case I had an first time issue of the tube failing and then I ran into this clearance problem and the web post help me tell the tech where to look. I hate to think how long it could have taken to find the problem with out me finding the post on the clearance issue.
