I change my own oil with Mobil 1 + AC filter when the DIC gets down low. My last oil change, July, was at 11000+ miles and DIC said 27%. I had done a lot of highwy driving since March. Two trips to NYS and back plus one trip to Huntsville AL and back.

The HHR is one of the easiest cars to the change oil.

I am thinking I will just change it every 5k regardless of the oil life monitor.

*sigh* Kids...

Didn't anyone ever teach you to check the oil and coolant levels and tire pressure at least once a month?

If you think you may have an oil leak, check it weekly... especially in older vehicles. Keep a quart or two behind the seats... and add when needed.

No, I do check it, and I usually do add to it. I was just wondering if it would hurt if I didn't check, or forgot to, and drove around about a quart low. Just wondering.

For a short time, probably not. Keep an eye on your guage to make sure you don't loose pressure. One of the reason I like gauges and hate idiot lights....

I agree 100% with you on that one.... The truck is the only vehicle of mine with an oil pressure gauge...

Heh, I'm sure they do. I'm probably being over cautious, but again, better safe than sorry.

I pay them enough when I put gas in, I'll be damned if they are going to get more un-needlessly.

Hey BlackDeath.....

Was that a 5 qt. or a 5+ qt. container? I noticed the AutoZone here in AZ. sells larger containers. Something like 5 1/2 quart containers of Mobil 1.
