Mixed commute of 37 miles each way, 11 miles city streets with 6 stop lights in each direction. Some putting to the Coldstone for Ice cream, grocery store etc. 67 mph on FWY when possible, some stop and go in traffic. This is my typical driving.

MPG - Worst (after 500 mi break in) 25.2 MPG
Best 27.7 MPG

Best Mileage so far - 28.2 during initial 500 miles on a road trip from Denton TX to Duke OK.

87-94 octane, i use both. I have never noticed a difference in mileage. I get dissapointed when i get less then 28mpg in the city and less than 35 on the highway....lol using 87.

I always use Hi octane. Pockets don't like it ...but I like what I get and have trouble free driving...BTW my SS really starts to perform at 80+mph. Handling is superb... it just grabs the road and wants to do it's own thing! Nothing like the feel of silk under your butt(I can't believe I said that)

2006 we went from oak harbor, wa to polson, mt about 1000 miles round trip... mostly freeway... a week of running around polson... 32.2 for that week and half... now we only reset between oil changes... have about 3000 miles since last reset... 28.4 most country roads, freeway and downtown... pretty happy with that. discovered that the right rear tire was down to 22 psi... might make a little bitty differance. normal 34psi front 32psi back... original firestones... use moble 1... zmax... bosch plugs... regular gas... stay to the right... don t pass... rearlly go over 70... try to do the UPS thing (reduce left turns) not going to save hundreds of thousands of dollars like they do... but it makes sense, spend less time sitting around.

sorry for the previous post... just saw the 'SS'...

isn t this kinda like comparing a 1970 chevelle 350 ci 2bbl 250 hp with a 70 chevell 'SS' 375 hp cowl inducted bb... and saying i am not to happy with my gas milage? there s an old adage... you can t have to much hp... but it s going to cost ya. more ways than one today. my 'little' 283 ci 4bbl got 12 mpg this weekend

Im not sure. I have an SS. The power hasn't hurt my mileage......unless I want it to. The Tuned LNF's haven't reported worse gas mileage either.

2008 HHR SS auto.

First road trip yesterday. Had 175kms on it before I left. 913 kms NO cruise at any point. Speeds from 105 - 135, a few slow downs for construction, Calgary and some driving around Red Deer.

Actual calc. and the dispay both gave me 26mpg. With cruise, a few thousand more kms and perhaps an intake/exhaust it should be right up close to the Balt in mpg.
