2.2L Ecotec Engine Noise

I have a 2009 LS with the 2.2L Ecotec (basic model).
I am very happy with it except for one thing - there seems to be a diesel/rattling type of noise that sems to be coming from the engine at between 1800 to approx 2200 RPM.

I have had the vehicle back to the dealer twice and they say that there is nothing mechanically wrong.

Has anyone else detected this sound?

I have a 2.4L engine and I notice the engine vibrating more when the car is about to shift gears, but it certainly isn't a diesel sort of noise. Its only slightly noticeable.

Mine will tick when it's cold out while idling, but that's normal...and yours is while driving. My radio is usually up too loud!

Whenever I hear rattles or clunks it's when the song is changing and there is less noise!

Yep - thats the noise - like a 'ticking' sound.
I guess I won't worry about it anymore.

Direct injection engines create an injector tick...mine does it louder when cold at idle....

Yeah, it's usually not very noticeable if at all when it's warmer out, or when the engine gets to operating temp.
