Hey does a guide to install the CGS on a 2.2L exist somewhere?? I know you have to adjust the mount but an exact guide would be a HUGE help!!

For those of you who read my original instructions that are HERE...they worked great. Due to this being made for the 2.4L, mine was still rubbing against the hood struts, making noise and damaging the paint on both the struts and the CGS. Below are some photos and additional instructions so you won't have to go through what I did when I did mine.

The modified length of the CGS support arm on mine now is around 5 1/4" from the top weld to the tip end by where the bolt goes into the head. I measured down approximately 2 1/4" from the top and put a new bend in the arm as you will see in the photos below. Then once I was happy with that bend, I marked it so I could cut off the part that overlapped over the head and cut that off with a hacksaw. I then marked where the new bolt hole had to be drilled a new hole for that.

I didn't have a vice to bend it with, so I pulled out my boyfriends hydraulic jack and put the arm in between the metal pieces and carefully bent it where I had marked it. Crude...yes, but effective.

Here's the photos I just took so you can get an idea of what it looks like. Hope this helps the 2.2L owners. Not professionally done, but a girl has got to do what a girl has to do. Another mod done by little ole me.

If you don't modify it like shown above for the 2.2L, you will have problems with it rubbing against the hood struts. You will eventually have paint transfer from the struts on to the CGS and it will look bad. Trust me...been there and done that.

Not doubting you but can anyone else confirm this?

Also the whole intake thing is new to me but sounds interesting....what is the benefit/drawback for the intake? Does mpg suffer? Does it change the sound?

Any tips or advice appreciated

This type of intake allows the motore to "breath" a little better. Mileage will not change with normal driving (usually a little less at first due to heavy foot). Usually good for a couple of ponies (anything over 10 is probably a lie IMO, actual test on a V8 average 9) Intake noise will be higher.

I've ran these type of intakes on a couple of vehicles and they will get you a slight SOTP feel. Noise is the big factor for most. I don't care for the CSG cause of the filter location and the lack of heat shield. But they do work.

This was a previous setup for me.

Others will argue, but I like the composite tubing and the heat shield. The design also sealed against the hood. Only the fender side was really open and that is where fresh air entered. It also kept the filter cleaner compared to it being totally exposed. I ran that type on a 94 delSol DOHC VTEC and has to clean the filter at least once a year.

But, you mileage may vary......

I have seen eat_world's '07 2.2, and it has the same valve cover as the 2.4's.

benefit of intake...more HP, better mileage...IF YOU DONT DRIVE LIKE YOU STOLE IT!!!

Drawback would be that you want to drive it like you stole it!!

It does change the sound, when you "get in it" it growls like crazy!!
