Exhaust options??
#2
I prefer the GM Performance Parts/Borla exhaust over the Magnaflow system also available for the HHR. I have both systems, and the GMPP exhaust to my ears at least, just sounds better with a mellow rumbly note compared to the Magnaflow's buzzy rasp.
Both can drone a bit at highway speeds, not enough to be obnoxious, but they do increase cabin noise levels.

If you just want the simple and cheaper route, you could just do a muffler swap. Nice tone. A little louder but not raspy. No highway drone either.

That seems like the perfect option, as it's just the little 2.2, and I'm not really planning on doing a whole lot as far as performance. Will that Flowmaster be an easy replacement for the LT stock muffler too? What size will I need?

if you only drive it in the summer it will be fine but if you drive it in snow and road salt, the flowmaster is going to rot out fast...if you do, try the magnaflow or borla exhaust (if you dont want to do a cat-back system, it will last much longer and a better product)

I doubt it, had mine up there in december, Ho Ho ho. The flowmasters come in two flavors of stainless, buy the best. It is double cased and runs cool to the touch. The rest of you HHR might crumble in the Ontario climate, but not this muffler. Do some research. They aren't your average fart can.

friend has a flowmaster on his silverado it got a hole in it like 3 years later, another on a civic, another on a cavalier..all have rotted out with our road salt here..we have some pretty harsh salt compared to other places, so maybe your lucky :p
