Some of the people who live to rattle the bolts out of their HHR have installed second and third batteries in the cargo bay, too.

The trunk on my old motorcycle existed to power the stereo. 2 car batteries and 3 amps. You could hear me coming from a mile away.

Question

is it as simple as bolting a higher amperage alternator in place of the anemic 110 amp factory? Or do you have to modify stuff in the computer for the higher output to be accepted?

You can bolt on a new higher amp alternator , 110, 115, 130 amps versions are available
