I take it the K&N fits in the stock replacement area but allows for more breathing?

I am going to sell the CGS with the Outlaw filter and the stock CGS filter as well as my IMCO muffler and shiny chrome tip.

The IMCO had three days use and never saw moisture. Too loud for myself and my family, so off it came. It has a custom welded hanger bracket already attached for instant hanging.
Yes, with the combo the car was faster, but a bit loud for my taste.

OK! Then I've got a canister muffler and didn't know it! Sure don't get any 40 mpg though.

Yeah, several people mention real High MPG readings like that, but we always get 21-27. Never more for any length of time. I can get less though with the touch of a foot

The high MPG folks must live in flat areas with few stops.

Either that, or they put bigger wheels on the back so they're always going downhill!

I just took out my stock filter, bought a Spectra filter and with a little modification mounted it at the inlet of the stock box. Man you tell an immediate difference but, the resination was overwhelming. It actually would vibrate the steering wheel when it geared down. Last night my creative juices were flowing and with some dense foam, cardboard, and some home airduct foil tape I closed the open spaces to make basically a 90' channel from the filter to the intake. Power seemed to be the same but it sure was much quieter going to work this morning. I will provide pictures if anyones interested in seeing what I did.

That correct. We had one in Bonnie's and it made a noticable difference.

I didn't want to be the first, but that sounds like dreaming to me. 40+mpg, my wife drives VERY conservatively and ony get 27-28mpg.

I bet it does.. I was looking to buy the CGS, but then I got to thinking.. It sucks air from right inside the engine compartment! Logicality would obviously point to, "That ain't right!"

So Airaid, K&N, or custom are my options now...

Honestly, if I didn't care for looks at all, I'm thinking the bast option is the oem set-up with a K&N filter. Breathes much better, ~$40 for the filter, and it's already getting the freshest air available.
