Thanks for the clarification about the steering.

Sooo, when my instant MPG shoots up to 99 when take the foot off the gas, is this indicating the engine has cut off? Sometimes it'll only go up to 50-60 mpg while coasting, other times to 99.

Heh, never thought about the instant MPG on the '08s...

I'll venture a guess here and say when you see the 50 - 60 MPG that you are just coasting. But when it hits 99 (may be wrong, but isn't that the max reading?) that is indicative of the DFCO in operation.

Either that or you are getting phenominal MPG and should jump into one of the MPG threads and start bragging!!

Strange, I wrote decent length post yesterday, but I don't see it here. Anyway, what I said yesterday was that 08's have instant mpg, and i would consider 99mpg "poor" mileage while coasting...lol If you had that all important third digit, 150-200mpg would show up. Yes youll only see 50-60 while on downhills, coasting etc, but coasting should always show 99mpg.

I also thanked joe-r for the info about dfco! I do "feel" it since I induce "deceleration mode" A LOT!

I'll fill up my tank today for my 600 mile attempt. Good thing I have a gas can!
I'll have to do better then my 30-city 38-highway to get there.

.
I just got an HHR and 'felt' it right away. I was starting to become concerned that something was wrong until I checked here.
