Yes, that is true.
Manaflow instructions say to remove battery cable during install.
Then when you connect power back again, computer will re-adjust to new system. It looks like they have tested this Cat-Back system on both 06 and 07 models and have published HP improvements on there website with results.

I have Flowmaster on all my other vehicles, but it looks like this Manaflow Cat-Back system is the only one on the market that has been tested and has good information on installation and address's the issue you brought up with the ECM. Reflash is not necessary, basically a reset. In earlier threads on this topic there is talk about pulling a fuse, which provides similar results I am sure.

Thanks,
Keith

I had my Magnaflow Cat-Back installed today.
Very pleased with the results, and the sound.
See my gallery for pictures.

The kit comes with everything, no cutting or welding.
It all bolts together and uses existing mounts.
It took about 20 mins on the rack.

Any chance of hearing a drive-by - maybe post on You Tube?
I'm dying for this if it sounds good. BTW - Do you also have a changed out intake and did it add to the noise?

I installed the K&N Intake first. It does add some noise when you take off and changing gears. At highway or constant speeds, the noise stops. I assume it's sucking in more air at those times. It's a different kind of noise compared to a exhaust sound. It's sort of like a "Vooommmm" noise of air flowing. It reminds me the days when I would take my old trucks round metal air box with wing-nut and turn it upside down to get more air to the old 4 barrel.

When you include the Magnaflow, the combination adds some noise. But, I don't know how to say... It's good noise?
You go from a whippy engine noise to something that sounds more appropriate for the looks of the vehicle.

I enjoy listening to XM 71 in the background, and outside of taking off at a red light, or hitting the gas to pass someone, you hear a slight rumble all the time. I am starting to enjoy it more and more.

I have a handheld digital voice recorder, and I will try and get a sound byte of something. If you go to the Magnaflow Website, and click on "Sounds". There are some examples of different vehicles. Listen to the 4 banger, and its close to the HHR. Actually I think mine sounds a little deeper then what is on the website.

I looked at various threads here on the topic of Exhaust from just changing the muffler, to doing the Cat-Back, and I am glad I went this route. Check out my pictures. The Chrome muffler really looks cool. The hardware is 1st class, and looks like the last exhaust will last as long as you own the vehicle and the person you may sell it to after.

I listened to the Cobalts on the Magnaflow site and they sound pretty good.

I would still appreciate a sound clip from you though.

I haven't been too successful on making the sound byte. I tried a hand digital recorder, and that didn't work very well. Ideally I would like to record one sitting in my HHR at a red light, so you can here the idol sound. Then another as a drive by, or a few engine revs. Stay tune...
I am travelling next week on business, so will make another try when I get back.
