Outside of it being stainless steel (I assume) and replacing the resonator, I am wondering what kind of performance gains you could get. Mike (SoCal) did a lot of dyno testing and found that the IMCO with stock cat and resonator had just the right BP. So, if the GM system combo of resonator and muffler work out to the same BP as the IMCO, what is the benefit? Plus, I wonder if it sounds ricey

$578.20 is a lot more that the $60 or $70 bucks for the IMCO installed.

There are systems that can work better than the IMCO. Mine runs much stronger now than with the IMCO. Honestly, other than the sound, I really didn't notice a big performance difference. I noticed an immediate difference with the set-up I have now.

I do not doubt Mike's findings...........for what he tested, on his car. GM's performance division has done some nice work. So until I here it doesn't work, I'll give it the benefit of the doubt.

Lee......

I'm not sure that was the case. I don't believe Mike did a before and after dyno run with the Imco. Again, if memory serves me correctly, he said most of the increase with the "cat-back" systems came from the muffler and the Imco was a good replacement for that.

At least a number of posts have been made that requested dyno numbers for the Imco and nobody provided them. Everybody said their "butt dyno" indicated an increase.

A cat back system will usually outperform a muffler swap anyday. The stock exhaust system on new cars is so much better than what they used to be. They are designed to give the best performance and flow pretty good as is. The stock cats these days almost flow like no cats compared to the old pellet style.

I just wanns know how it sounds. Personally, I don't like the IMCO sound, still too ricey.
