Well been looking at HHR with a 2.4 and the getrag 5spd. is the trans an easy shifter no problems or anything? ive always driven autos, but have driven my friends older jeep w/finicky trans.
was looking around and found a short throw, is it worth it?

I just topped 30K and have not had any problems with my 5-speed. It is much more fun to drive (IMO). I thought about a short shift mod, but actually short enough for me..we shall see when I get the SS (wishful thinking)

I have the 2.4L engine with the 5-speed. The shifter feels good and it isn't rubbery. Perfectly acceptable for a front-wheel drive car, in my opinion. Rear-wheel-drive cars generally have better shifter feel due to the fact that the transmission is usually directly under the shifter. FWD cars need a longer linkage or cable to reach the tranny which is under the hood.

IMO, the shifter does feel rubbery and the throw is pretty long. I put a Hurst shifter in my 98 S-10 though, which had about a 2 inch throw from first to second and was very solid. So that might be influencing me a bit.
I'm guessing Cobalt shifters will work in HHR's? Since when you download the install guide for the TWM shifter it says "2005 and up Cobalts" If that's the case I'd much rather have the Hurst shifter

also, do get a short shifter as stated. booger racing makes poly shift link bushings for pts, but i just checked and they don't have any for hhrs yet, but if yall can find something like that, it will be 100% over the sts...
