Noisy CGS

Mike may have mentioned a fix for this already but I cant find it.... When i start the engine the CGS Outlaw Filter knocks against something , (i think the stud or something on the bottom) ... is there a fix?

Adhesive foam door insulation. Take a strip about 2-in long and stick it to the metal part of the filter where it rests against the windshield washer bottle. This will isolate it stopping the "k-k-knock" sound at idle while in gear.

Hope it helps,

Well it seems to be more knocking on the stud or mount or something at the bottom... not knocking against the washer bottle, as it only seems to do this when i start the engine or sometimes i hear it when i hit a bump....

Ours actually hits the hood strut, noticed a black mark on the CGS finish the other week.

I know it's not the hood strut, cuz i checked it today and started the engine with the hood open... seems to be a lot of flex in the air intake hose. I know when i had the original cgs filter on there it didnt 'knock' cuz it was larger and wedged in there more.

Mine hits the hood strut too. I thought my filter was clunking on something but it's the metal tube part hitting the strut.. I have the mark to prove it as well. I've been trying to bend the mount and stuff to stop it from hitting but it still does it. I may have to take it out if I can't stop the clunking... it's starting to get on my nerves.

The truth is out there..

K&N filter... will fit without touching anything..
and won't be wedged in.....

(From a previous post)
if you don't want your air filter all jammed up in the compartment, try K&N's SN2540 it has a 20 degree flange edge that can help it be deflected off the wall of the car body,

Cgs

i'm very dissapointed in the intake system. the instructions were pure junk. no mention of 2 different tork screw sizes. i think the bracket on the back side of the tube is off alittle. if you move the tube before bolting the bracket, the tube/filter woul not hit anytwhen starting the HHR. for the co 2.4 motor, their sysltm is onyt $170.
