From 17 to 16 what about the speedo?

Hi, I will be picking up my HHR on Tuesday. It is equipped with the LT2 package and 17 inch rims. I noticed if I go to the retro rims and white walls I will have to go to 16 inch wheels. What about my speedo calibration? I'm sure the dealer can reprogram the car for this. Anyone been through this, what did you do? Also did you notice any difference in the ride or handling?

Get a tire with a taller sidewall and you won't need to recalibrate. I'm sure others here can tell you what size tire you need to do this.

As long as you keep the same outside diameter on the tire you should be fine and your ride should be more comfortable picking up some additional sidewall.

Hey Catain Howdy, I believe I remember you from the Mustang site. The new HHR is for taking all my stuff to car shows, still have the 07 Shelby GT500 and the 81 Tbird (17,000 miles), And for all the Chevy guys, yes I have my 57Chevy with 36,000 original miles. I like all American made cars. As Barry Maguire said to me "You're car crazy!"

You should remember Captain Howdy. He knows all about Speedos. He wears one with his wrestling mask.

These are not the best pictures but the Shelby is mine along with the 81 bird. My 57 has not been added yet but will be by the end of the week. This is my site for my car show displays. Go to the car show link and look at the cars to see my 81. First page has my cars too. No HHR photos yet because I'm not taking delivery until tomorrow. Site: RochesterAutoDesign.us
You can see me in the March Motor trend magazine page 175 speaking in Las Vegas at SEMA.
