Aftermarket fog lights
#11
Once I figure out how I'm going to punch it through the firewall. Sure..
I also need to look at the inside fuse panel and see if it carries any available open slots that are powered with the igition. Damn, haven't even looked for that yet. Checked the underhood one already for loose fuses.
Had it for 10 days and already put a hitch on, wiring for the hitch, new exhaust tip. Steering wheels controls should go on tonight. New lock knobs from SoCal.
And I still haven't taken a single pic

It is the same size and shape as the keyless remote for our HHR's. And found that on ebay and only paid like $10.
Did not like the idea of cutting through the firewall. So this works great for me. Just an idea for you

I was thinking about adding the factory fog lights to my HHR whick did not come with fogs. I looks like it will be fairly inexpensive as long as I wire them up with an aftermarket switch so I do not have to reprogram the computer.

Where to push wire through....
Pop the hood and goto the drivers side of the vehicle. Behind the drivers side strut housing, on the firewall is a large black grommet with a white plastic ring around it. It also has a large group of wires that pass through the grommet. To penetrate the grommet I used a good ol' metal coat hanger that I straightened out. I also cut the end at an angle so it was nice and pointy (sharp). Tape the wire that you are going to use to the coat hanger (I used electrical tape about an inch or so from the end) and push it through the grommet....Go inside car and look for the coat hanger with the wire attached. It should be right around the top of the brake pedal assembly.
As far as the fuse that is triggered from the ignition, goto the fuse panel that is located on the passenger side of the center console and tap from the #21 spare fuse location......Hope this helps....Regards

I got some lights over this past weekend and will be doing this this weekend. I'll shoot some pics, weather permitting.

I'm doing this this weekend. Those that reused the factory dummy plugs, how did you mount the light to the plug? I was considering just cutting the hole to make it sit flush, but now sure what will hold it in place. I though about using a sealer, but then the light output will be sealed...... I'm also looking for a different switch than what came with the kit. I want just a pushbutton on/off switch instead of a rocker. Guess I will hit radio shack tomorrow after work.

Did the install this weekend. Got it all done, but have a wiring issue someplace. They are not working. I'm going to have to recheck my grounds and go from there. But I did use the stock dummy plates. Once I cut the holes, I used the mounting brackets and just tightened them down as a brace. They are not moving. To cut the holes, I stated with a dremel, cut discovered a jig saw worked much faster and better.

Any updates? My LT didn't come with fogs and i want to add them
I was looking at these two on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2006-...spagenameZWD1V
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/06-20...spagenameZWD1V
i kinda like the option of the multicolor halo.. but the ones from blinglights looks like i could more easily mount the switch in the OEM location...
thoughts?
