Anyone Install Their Own Fog Lights?

Using the forum search, I couldn't find anything when searching for "fog" or "for lights". Using Google, I found a couple threads that showed how to make a hole in the fog light covers and install smaller 4 inch fog lights, and both installs looked terrible (no offense to anyone).

I want to install full size HHR fog lights, either factory or aftermarket. Has anyone done this? Any advice, instructions, photos anywhere?

And, I saw those "Bling Lights" on eBay, with the halo surrounds, which look great and are only $50-60, but it states the years as 2006-2008, and I can't get an answer from them as to whether they'll fit a 2010. Can anyone give me a yes or no? Thanks.

bought all of the factory parts for my LS and installed them myself the same way the factory did them. I did this a year ago and then I had the option for the foglamps turned on using a tech 2.

On mine, I eventually switched over to factory fogs, just kept the wiring I used in the writeup. Not one single issue with them.

I installed OEM fog lights on my '07 1LT. Easy to do. There is a "How To" on the forum that gives the step-by-step for the wiring. The fog light switch is $15 (I bought from GM Parts People) and the OEM fog lights were $70 apiece on ebay. Two short coils of wire, some wire ties, electrical tape, solder/soldering iron, two plugs to mate up with the supplied bulbs and about 2 hours install time.

It's an easy mod. I don't like the looks of "aftermarket" fog lights ... seems like you can always tell that some one installed them in the driveway. I like the factory fogs and wanted it to look like it came from the factory with them. Unless you open up the fuse block under the hood and see the added wiring, you wouldn't know that mine came from the factory without them.

Does anyone know of a decent set of aftermarket fogs that will fill the holes left by the inserts? I have an 07 LS and apparently the BCM cannot be reprogrammed for fogs. I want to use 3000k HID bulbs in the fogs for fog and heavy snow.

I hate to spend $150 for the stock bulbs and still not be able to use them the same as a stock setup. If I am going to have to wire in my own bulbs, I would prefer to save some money and go after market and hopefully get the HID setup I want in one package.

Any help will be hugely appreciated.

Thanks

Was just poking around the fuse panel under the hood on the weekend and found that I have the fuse and relay for fogs already in there from the factory. Would that mean that I could install the lights and a switch and be good to go?

Nope. The wires arent there from the box to the lights and you would have to have the computer programmed too from what I understand. I installed the factory lights and ran a power wire from the low beams to a fused relay and now they are on whenever the low beams are. Not really hard to do at all.
