I am going to dealer on Saturday for them to look at it. Wish me luck. My dealer has been pretty good in the past. I have only had the car 6.5 mths.

Yes, the polished wheels are clear coated.......should be the same for the "black chrome" as well.

The smoke coat might be above the clear too, not sure on that. I still have clear but the smoke has to be warn some, not very black at all. Just got the used car from a dealer so who knows what the previous owner used to clean them. dealer had nasty tire gloss spray all over them when I got it.

I've got one wheel that has a little peeling in a corner hardly noticable. Maybe I'll put 10 coats of zaino wax on them next week, that ought to protect them from anything

edit: and I didn't know it was a Fall Edition when I bought it, just wanted the black 2.4L and 5-speed!!

Clear coat peeling on wheels is not something new so I don't know why any dealer would have a problem with replacing them under warranty. Sometimes they can be repaired but that takes 2 or more days. However black chrome cannot be re-cleared and we just replace them.

If an owner put something on the wheels that caused damage their is usually discoloration.

The post earlier about the dealer taking pictures and sending to Detroit was at best comical or maybe just plain over dramatics by that dealer.

Angry

Mine is 1 year old this month. No issues at all with the wheels. However, my drivers door handle has a small "chip" in the top of it that really annoys me as it is shinier than the rest of the handle now

it rain thursday and i noticed last night that wow the rain sure made funny looking marks on the wheel went to wipe the wheel my wheel is peeling...
i was in the dealership changing the oil in a company van and they told me to bring it in.... the black chrome to me looks like it is a film over the shinny chrome wheel...it is definitely shinny under the film thats peeling....

I have almost 9000 miles on it i have had the car for almost 6 months.

i took mine in this moring, i was told that the dealership had to let a wheel guy look at it before they could order any new wheels... ( thanks to chevymgr he said make sure they know its black chrome) i did,,, but the dealership said they had to have this guy check it... they gave me a car to drive... hhr panel.... they were also going to do the recall and check my settings due to the gas mileage thing....
went to pick it up...... they have to ORDER 3 new wheels. said it will take about 7 days..

the recall done i didnt noticed anything different.... they did good....no grease marks on dirt marks...

i like my service people at my dealership just wish i could get a little better gas mileage.....
