Cheap Grill Mod

Put some electrical tape on the vertical supports on the grill. I did this when I had my PT Cruiser and liked it. The original idea was about 40 years ago on my '56 Chev. What do you folks think? Total cost - 10 cents worth of tape.

What a cool idea. Now I'm going to have to dig out some tape and do mine. I love the clean look it provides. That's what I love about this forum...someone is always coming up with another cool idea. Thanks for sharing this with us.

I had to look at both pictures for a few minutes to realize the difference. My only concern is haveing th tape around those parts for awhile is when you take them off after being on for awhile you would have gook stuff to clean off.

Electrical tape wont last through too many washes, it will start deteriorating almost immediately.
You`d have a better chance with vinyl. When the tape starts collecting fuzz and other things you`ll have a heck of a mess. The radiator fan blows in that direction also. High heat environment

Agreed, but I had it on my Cruiser for two years with no problems. Never did take it off. Used to make a "checker board" design on the old '56 and then take it off after a few months to redo it. Not a big problem. I think it makes everyone look at it and try to figure out what was done. Probably some flat black paint would be better, but it might chip.

I agree with ya, but the rad fan sucks air in not push it out.
Would not make much sence blowing all the hot air from the engine into the rad.

I painted mine, and some other stuff on the grill. I'll post pix when done
