clear bumper protector

Hey folks. As I do some loading and unloading of golf clubs, and other hobbies. I know my bumper is going to get dinged as its also the perfect high to rest ones shoe when tying the laces... I was looking for a rear bumper protector. Well the GM factory part is useless, I don't have it and don't plan on buying it. So my options...buy some "chrome" self adhesive flexible molding and make my own, cut a hunk of aluminum to fit the entire top of the bumper between the bumper extensions and get some 3m tape and stick it to it. or get some of the xpel clear film...such that I can actually wrap it around the edge of the bumper.

Any thoughts or other Ideas.

Some 7mil clear vinyl would work well. I've seen this sold in smaller pieces for motorcycle applications (gas tank protectors, number plate overlays) but if you can find it in large sheets that would fit the bill. Thick and super sticky.

I found some 4" wide 3m tape just wide enough to cover the area outside of where the normal GM bumper protector would go and roll over the edge about 1" turned out pretty nice and not real visible...

What you are looking for is called Paint Protection Film or PPF for short. Check out Tintdude.com and post re your needs. Someone should be in your area and be able to help you out.
