clear vinyl protection

Don't mean to plug up the board today with all these post, but don't get much time to get on the computer. I bought a clear kit on e-bay last week, it was quite a bit cheaper than the kits I have bought and installed for some of my customer. I have a auto upholstery shop and have installed a few kits on some lexus and mercedes. Long story short, I don't know if it is the round contours of the hhr or the kit, but I spent 3 hours installing with heat and plenty of patience and peeled it off and trashed it. Has anyone else installed one of these kits. I haven't got a lot of experience installing these kits, only about 9 or 10 but they all went on better than this one.

I don't have a lot of experience in invisible protection but I was told by someone with lots of experience to never buy the cheap ones off of Ebay. The vinyl is not as thick as say 3M paint protection, it is prone to discolor quickly, and the fit isn't that great. But like I said this comes out of someone else’s mouth not my own personal experience.

Although I didn't by a 'kit', per se... I DO have protective film on my vehilce. It's thick mil and clear, just not the 3M brand.
What I did was goto my local dirtbike shop (a pretty good one) and purchased individual sheets of film (racers use this on their bikes). I cut/made my own templates, transferred/cut it out of vinyl and applied to the HHR (behind front wheel and where the kick panel jets out... in front of the rear tire... NOTE: I do not have running boards). I used a hair dryer to apply, although there were some minor bubbles visable after application. After leaving the vehicle outside in the heat (75+ degree day) and WITHOUT washing for a few days, the bubbles worked themselves out (any large bubbles need to be pin-*****ed to allow the air to escape). <- Sorry... the word p.r.i.c.k.e.d. was edited out by the site upon submitting the post!!!
Now I've done this with clear tape to my HHR and my sport bike (to protect the paint on the tank where my jacket zipper rubs) with EXCELLENT results. I've also applied thick TINTED tape to my HHR's reverse lens' and sidemarker lens with similar, if not better, results!!
So- no problems here.
BTW- each sheet was like $2 (10"X14" sheet)... and they've NEVER turned yellow on me...

I had got the hood invisishield, the 3 m type and had troubles putting it on myself using the care you did. Needless to say, mine ended up in the shop speciality can also. I might get another, but This time I will find a professional to install it for me..

I bought a "kit" on e-bay, got all the tools and stuff needed to apply, washed, prepped, got Mrs. B/B out to help. Started trying to fit pieces, WTF, wheres the hood piece? No hood piece... Had to order seperately... Are you kidding me, that`s the piece I wanted.
Put all the stuff back, threw in a corner, cleaned all the soap film and residue, got my wax and forgot all about that event.
