Question Cost of custom paint job?

I've been getting the itch to customize my HHR a bit. I'm curious if any of you could give me some ballpark figures on how much some custom flames on my car would cost.

I'm pretty new to car modding, so I'm not all that familiar with what would be a fair price.

Here's a couple examples of the type of paint job I'm interested in:

(just the flames, not the skull )

Also, if anyone knows a good place to to get the paintjob done in the Indianapolis area, I would appreciate the info.

Thanks,
-Alan

Wow, you got a deal! All this time I thought you'd dropped like, $5000-6000 on that paint. That HOK paint isn't cheap to purchase to begin with.

Who did you use in STL?

That was just for the flames.

The entire job was much more. Old Dog Hot Rods did the main work; an artist named Molly Hoffmann did the airbrush work.

At the risk of sounding stupid, what are ghost flames? I am toying with the idea of getting flames put on and am looking at all the different version I can find.

Not a stupid question at all. Ghost flames just blend into the color of the vehicle and show up more at certain angles vs the stand out flames that Bob has. I thought they would go better in a silver base on the Daytona Blue. Still toying with the idea.

Okay, that was what I was thinking of in my head, just didn't have a name for it. I was thinking either white or silver blended into Imperial Blue. Something on the low key side. If I put the 'traditional' flame job on my wife would never ride in it.
