Has anyone seen or done any custom shift knobs for the 5 speeds? I was thinking of doing a cue ball style shift knob but I am not sure where to go about getting one.

What is the thread size of the HHR shifters?

 

Why don't you check with TWM Performance? They're a vendor on here that does short shifters and shift knobs for the HHR. I'm sure you'll see a banner or two of their site while reading this.

Assanti hit it right on the head....your selection will be limited and for the oem set up there is none. The knob is press fit and then ya gotta think 'bout the reverse lock out feature.
If ya turn up sumthin' let the rest of us know.

 

I couldn't find one to buy so I just made my own.

I made a shifter knob out of an 8-ball. I drilled a hole for the shaft, and then counter bored it for the shifter boot to fit up inside the bottom of the ball. I then drilled and tapped a 1/4-20 hole for a set screw to hold it on the shaft on the side.
