You inspired me! I went on eBay, found the same hood ornament and won the auction. I think I'll have a body shop install it for me as I don't trust myself to do it right.

Well if you bought a genuine hood ornament that was not pitted and still had the bolts, you got a GREAT deal for $20!!! Some go as high as $120! I bought mine for $56 eBay.

Good job Docwylie!!!

I paid $89 dollars for mine.....Came off a 1938

Installation was easy,. You can nearly drill through the hood with a toothpick the metal is so thin.

Geez...I'm starting to think mine will probably turn out to be a piece of crap if you guys paid so much more. I know there's some pitting on the one I bid on so I'll probably have to have it replated. Then again maybe a crappy finish will blend nicely with my satin trim!

Kingfrog...do you have any other pics showing the installed ornament. It's kinda hard to see how it looks from the one you posted on this thread.

There are two U shaped spacers that attach to the bottom. What you have to be careful about is the one where you have to drill through the frame. If you tighten up the bolt too much you will pull the rear of the ornament down creating adip in the hood, Be careful with the rear one.

Drilling is easy. The friggin metal on this car is like foil....Thats my biggest gripe with it. You can spit on the hood and make a ding LOL
