Flames?

Flames?
Ok..so here is my quandry. I have a buddy in Canada that is a body shop manager. He will paint any parts I send to him for free and he does incredible flame jobs. He even said that if I drive up there he will paint my car for free. Unfortunately, its a 27 hour drive..so its not in my future plans. But...I showed him the emblem pics of Socals and he said he could do that easily and better...the body shop guys have such egos! Anyway, I want him to do a piano black with grey flames and do the interior dash parts the same way. He thinks the outside emblem will be hot on Greyghost, but thinks the interior would look too gawdy that way. I wanted something more custom than the interior kits and believe with the grey interior it would look awesome, especially matching the emblems. What do you think? Should I go for it..after all..other than shipping..its free. Or should I just leave the interior pieces alone?

You're most welcome...I just think ghosting would be perfect for greyghost. Maybe we can find some pictures of what you're thinking about doing and ghost them on to photos of the interior of the car and see what they will look like. If you can get me some photos to work with, I'll see what I can do in Paint Shop.

I would agree with your friend, I think the interior dash might get overpowering. We almost bought a dark silver when we were looking but it didn't have the 2.4L so I went with the light silver metallic. The dark silver would have been our second choice.
I agree the dash needs something, that was the only thing I really didn't like about the HHR. My wife liked it but I just thought it looked like eery other new car dash. When the PT Cruiser originally came out I really feel in love with the dash, big gauges and utilitarian materials. I have also been looking at some of the dash kits but I haven't really found anything I am satisfied with. I think you should keep looking.
I am also still a bit reluctant to try the paint route since my gut tells me that paint chips, just like concrete cracks, it is just in its nature. Although some of the people on this forum are doing some amazing work with their interiors. Good Luck.
