Foglight repair

Well, I really just need to put it back in. Was following a Cavalier a little too closely and some retread popped up and slammed into the front of my HHR. The foglight was popped out and shoved back into the pocket behind it, now it's just rolling around loosely. Still works, just need to put it back in.

Does anybody have experience with that? It seems like it would just snap into place, but I don't want to break anything yet. Are there any bolts, screws, or anything else holding it to the front bumper?

Thanks.

Not exactly sure what that's a diagram of, but it's not what I'm looking for. The entire lamp was pushed back into the bumper.

It should pop right back into the bumper if it was just pushed in. There are tabs for it molded into the bumper. If those are broken you are SOL. You're gonna have to pull the fender lining off, or at least out of the way to get to it. There is a bolt toward the top of the wheel well that you will have to remove, the rest are push-in type fasteners. Be careful removing those and be patient!! They often break and are pricey, for what there are, to replace.
Good luck!!

Well, I was able to pop it back in to place. It wasn't really hard except for not really having anything to hold on to while pulling it back in. Just looked at the other lamp to check orientation, and it snapped in easy. Looks great, now just have to get the bumper cleaned up.

Note to self, don't follow so closely.

hehe! Wow, similar thing happened to me and the fog light popped inside the bumper. Instead of a tire tread, someone backed into my car at Hanaford and left a nice scrape on the corner of my bumper. They drove off with out so much as a 'Nice to meet ya!'

Any tips on how to pull the fog light back into the whole? Does it snap in place once you hit the correct orientation?
Did you use your fingers to pull it back through or did you improvise with a tool (like needle nose?)
thx
Warren

You need to open up the wheel well in front of the front tire. From there you can grab the light and snap it bak in place as long as the tabs didn't break. From memory, it only goes in one way.
