Do people actually stand on their running boards?!?

I have had my HHR for 13 months now, & I have not once put my weight on them...I thought they were just for looks/paint protection.

They're more functional to stand on than protect the paint.

I stand on mine all the time. Only way I can reach the top to clean it, although that has been made easier by my leveling springs.

Back on topic, those home made boards look great! Looks like they will do the job of protecting your fenders well.

VERY COOL IDEA!!!

A great way to protect the paint!!! Excellent solution to the paint chip problems!!!!

As for stepping on the running boards... I have yet to step on my factory boards as well... but being over 6 foot tall and leveling springs on the HHR, never have to...

I do each time I dry my HHR after washing it off.... I stand on the running board with the door open to reach the roof and sunroof. Although I am horizontally gifted, I'm vertically challenged! So, the running boards hold up fine and give me that few extra inches in height.

Great work tcstoy!

Nice looking homemade mod. Hope it doesn't effect the warranty.
As far as my running boards, I stand on them to wash and wax the top and I am 205lb
