I'll have to check with my insurance again and see what kind of claim it would be. I don't have any homeowner or renters insurance.

I did just get off the phone with my local junk yard and they have a black rear hatch door for $250. So, I will probably just go that route. Now I just have to figure out how to take the hatch door off and replace it with the new one lol.

You'll need two friends to hold it while you undo the fasteners, disconnect the wire harness and the washer squirting hose first!

Other than the heavy lifting, is it a pretty simple change? I have looked in my manual and it shows nothing on replacing the back hatch.

2-4 bolts, let the old wear marks lead you.

I took a look at it yesterday and it looks pretty simple. I don't think I'll have any problems

You will need to make some adjustments after it's installed for proper alignment and fit. No two hatches are exactly the same and no two bodies either. It's not a bolt and go, and whatever you do don't bolt it on and slam the gate...

But don't let that scare you off. The alignment isn't that difficult if you take your time and think it through.

I think somebody mentioned that the wiring is connected on the inside, no quick connects.

A "GOOD" PDR could make that look 95% better. My brother does PDR and can make things like that disappear, but it also matters if the paint is cracked and how bad the metal is stretched.
