There used to be some glass polish on the market maded by Rain-X. I have a bottle of it and it works awesome to remove that film. (Which is usually from touchless car washes..have you used them?)

What do you think of the after market paint sealers or is what is a really good wax?

Nice work. Dream cars for sure. My humble HHR seems frumpy after looking at those beauties...

I have only done a couple of cars since getting the Nikon. Before, I was using a Powershot A630 on "vivid" which is why I think the color sat was a little high. Since switching to the D40, I have used a CP filter, and haven't noticed it as much.

The glare is good for me though, because the only way you can tell if a paint is perfect is to view in direct sunlight (to make sure the swirl marks are gone).

Thanks though

I think for the longest lasting protection and amazing reflections, Zaino is tough to beat. However, its a little tricky to use, but I am the only certified Zaino detailer in Florida and have run education classes regarding their products, so I can help.

Another great product, which is a little easier to use, is Deep SWAX by DeepFinish.

Thanks for the compliments. I disagree though about the HHR looking frumpy. I think its an amazing ride and I am very stoked to have one. Price wise, its a bargin.

Honestly, I get to work on some amazing vehicles, ranging from a million dollar Enzo and Bugatti Veryon to a '62 Ferrari GT Califorina (think Ferris Buhler) estimated at 2 million, and I would say that the HHR is as cool as any of them.

For me its work though, so I don't get to enjoy the cars as much as a casual observer.

Price tags don't make cars, and the HHR is SHARP at any level

Actually if I could get any new sports car right now, it would be a 2008 BMW Z4 Coupe (not the convertible, the hard top coupe instead). Drop dead gorgeous styling. Modern classic. Just my opinion, though.

Would a fine scotchbrite pad be safer than steel/brass wool? I guess I should start buffing paint, I could stand to loose 11 lbs. lol

Wow thats great work. My brother has a 69 Vette and he is all about Zaino products. They send him all kinds of stuff. Watching him agonize over his car turned me off to keeping mine anything more then washed and waxed . But everytime I sell a car I pay to have it detailed first.

I would say your work would more then pay for itself when it comes time to sell a car. Very very nice.

For those of us who are looking for the best protection if not the best shine what store bought products do you recommend in the interim. I run mine through a touch less car wash and wax it with liquid Glass. Not the best but it looks as clean as most cars on the road. I would wash it at home but I think I would do MORE "damage" then a car wash.

BTW This is the first black car i have ever owned. My brother laughed when he saw the color. He knows I'm not capable of keeping it looking as he believes it should. He's right. Every other car I have owned was white. I guess Im in trouble LOL

if you ever work on a vehicle like an HHR please take some pics, The paint job is not the same as the ones that you work on, So I would like to see the out come of the products that you use on a High Value vehicle vs an HHR. It's just not the same.

TH0001, are you a member of the NAPDR? Do you attend the MTE in Florida?
