Well, don't worry - it won't be "draggin'" low - unless you throw the low-slung sidepipes on!

Just curious. Did you actually measured the different in diameter between a 16" and 17" size tire on and HHR?

There should only be 1/8" difference in diameter. Which would be less than 1/16" difference in drop not 1". The most accurate way is to measure the circumference around the tire and divide by 3.14 at least that how we do it for racing when matching up rear slicks.

Yes, we did measure the tires. There was over 1" difference in total tire height between the 16 & 17-inch stock tires on a 1LT and 2LT. The actual axle height (from the ground), was also measured and was about 3/4" - which is quite significant.

I have managed 3 different speed shops, 1 off-road shop, and managed 3 different tire stores in my lifetime (so I'm pretty familiar with how to correctly measure tires).

This large a difference in tire size means GM must be flashing the computers on 1LT;s and 2LT's differently to have their respective speedo's display correctly also...

I thought the HHR ran either 215/55-16 or 215/50-17"

If that's the case over 1" different would mean a 16" 215/55 series tire has less sidewall than a 17" 215/50 series tire...that's a$$_backwards. Do I have the wrong size tires figured?

As far as computer is concerned the differents in tire diameter shouldn't be a problem. Tire size is one of many varible they can program in the computer (fog light ect). When I put 33" tires on my truck they could only program the sizes that GM offered. However it was availible with difference gear rations so I had them program it for 3.73 gears instead of the 4.10 which gave the same effect as a larger tire.

Same color HHR, same springs only Mine has 16" compared to NF11's 17". Not trying to be an A$$ but I just can't believe there is over 1" difference in tire diameter. Mainly because I don't have a 1/2" clearance at the strut which is the same regardless of which spring is used.

I'm not trying to be an @$$ either CJ - but all you need to do is stop by your local dealer with a tape measure to confirm. Measurements don't lie.

*Be sure to measure the "axle center to ground" distance, as that is what determines the overall ride height.

After I lowered mine the next day I went to the dealer and measured mine vs the LT and LS and I can vouch that there was a difference between all three.
