Installing LED lighting in door pockets?

I was in a friends BMW the other night and noticed the map pockets in the doors had LED lighting. Looked really nice and was wondering how hard and expensive it would be to have something like that installed in an HHR, front and rear doors, in blue LED. Any idea how they would wire that? Is there any power or wiring that goes to the doors that someone could tap into? Or is it just not worth ripping out the car interior for that?

Also, my 2009 HHR is still under factory warranty. Would a mod like this void the warranty?

Thanks! Chris

Warranty is anyones guess, if the wiring got caught up in the power windows youd be out of luck.
I think the door lock switch is lit at night, so you might be able to tap into that.

Thanks for the replies guys! Not sure if it's worth trying, but I'll probably wait to see if I keep the car after the warranty expires :)

GM will never "void" your warranty entirely for doing a mod like this, they just may decide not to cover certain repairs if your mod was to cause a problem. So if you were to cut a wire for the power windows on accident or something, they may not cover the repair cost for fixing the power windows. But they will not "void" your warranty completely, it will still cover everything else. I personally think it sounds like a neat idea. I like the look of LEDs a lot.

I've tapped 12v always on at from the power mirror wires. I just taped the wires to the back of the plastic inner door panels. I don't have the leds set up yet, but will once the dealer finishes replacing all the repairs they are working on.
