Ok, the sample connector pins for upgrading the 2006 dimmer switch to a 2007 switch are here!
I am going to try and do the install this weekend if possible. Since others on the forum have expressed interest in the mod, I will take pictures as I do the mod and then post them.
As I see it the procedure will be:
1. Remove console trim
2. Remove 2006 dimmer switch
3. Take 2 new connector pins and add a wire (crimp) to each
4. Insert the two new pins into the existing connector
5. Connect one wire to ground and the other to the BCM
6. Install 2007 dimmer switch
7. Replace trim
During the actual installation I will find out how long the wires need to be.

I finally did the mod last night. It works just as I had hoped. Hard to believe the pleasure you can get from the results of a mod that makes the HHR do what 99% of the other cars on the road can do from the factory!!
The big question mark before the mod was the hookup to the BCM. It turns out that the BCM hookup was far easier than I thought it would be. After removing the snap-off cover on the passenger side of the console, the BCM connector was right in front of you, with the wires exposed. There is even a very convenient ground pick-up screw next to the BCM. I have the pictures of the procedure and BCM connections, but I have to format them to the proper size, etc. Hopefully in the next few days I will have the how-to procedure and pics ready.

I've been watching patiently, can't wait to do this to our two. It'll be nice being able to turn the dome light on to check on our little boy in the back seat.
