Little project

Been working on GPS project for the HHR with the help from my wife. Im not done but since we are going out of town figured why not put in to see what it looks like and to make sure it works, so here it is. Before it was just set up with the window mount the disk that is still mounted to the dash( has some glue residue that I dont have time to clean up so it will stay till later)

I actually molded it. I made a mold of the gps itself for a the holder on the inside then had a part from a Expedition and I cut it up and fiberglassed it together to get that.

Nice work and really good thinking.

A friend of mine is doing almost the same thing. He made a "male" mold and is working with a local injection molding company. His design is similar, but is smaller and maybe slightly higher. It has a 2 fold purpose......his GPS and holding a Passport Radar Detector above.

He's trying to make the piece adaptable to a variety of 4.3 " GPS units AND radar detectors. Owners could wire in the power to both units without having exposed cords. He hopes to sell them commercially for several different vehicles.

I think if it could fold away from sight when not in use, might be helpful to avoid crooks from seeing something they could get quick cash for.

Other than that thought, looks good.

I see what your saying but they would have to take the whole cubby. I really dont think I'll have any issues, Ive left the gps on its mount before in some rough areas even over night and didnt have a problem.
