Actually the Captain did a thread on replacing the "mood light" LED with a high output blue one, I did it and love the result.

After CH posted he changed his I decided to change mine, and it is one of my favorite mods. The high intensity blue LED puts out quite a bit more light, is easier to see the window switches, and gives off a romantic blue glow, as applenuts pic shows. Very cheap and easy mod that makes a big difference.

Mine was the last one that the dealer had but I'm sure that there are more dealers out there with "leftovers". I was lucky because they were wanting to move this one out!

Do you still have the specs for doing it the "Captains" way? I want to explore every avenue before taking my new HHR.

Do you have a sunroof? If you do all you have to do is pinch the sides of the plastic housing and pull down. It will snap right off. If you don't have a sunroof it gets a bit more complicated. I don't have a sunroof and changed mine, so if you would like I can post the directions or send them in a PM to you.
