HHR projectors - kit please?

I would love it if some company would make a kit for this conversion. It's unfortunate that ignorant people like me could see HID for sale and almost put an HID bulb in a halogen reflector. I'd love real HIDs, but I am either going to do them right or not at all. It's nice to see that one member actually COMPLETED this work. I'm still working with Muth on creating another thing never offered for HHR: heated signal mirrors and they say that they probably can do a kit that an affiliated installer can put in my car. Can SOMEONE - a company, an individual - come up with a complete HID kit that an installer can just bolt in?

See that is what I don't understand. Over and over I read on car forums and answer sites for people looking for HID, Projector, and other styles of headlights and assemblies for the HHR and yet when you do a search you can see them made for minivans and other dime a dozen cars that seem to be much lower in demand IMO. I mean if they can make them for a chevrolet venture or a dodge caravan how can they say there is no demand. Maybe they need to skim this and other forums which I will not name but I am a member of that deal with HHR and other Ecotec Tuner cars. Lots a people lookin to customize their HHRs if you ask me.

How about a one-off, then?

Would somone be willing to start from light housings from a junked HHR, projector beam or HID light assemblies pulled from another vehicle (that seem to be available to at least one member above for free) or from another junked car and build me a street-legal bolt-in conversion at a fair price?

I agree, totally. Maybe it's because the HHR's production numbers are too low, maybe it's because they assume people only "tune" Japanese cars- who knows? But I think if I had a shop, the HHR would be one of the last cars I'd stock high priced parts for... In the end though, this is a good thing! I am the ONLY one in my part of Denver who has a moderately modified HHR, and I love the exclusivity!

It seems from your posts that quality is a main concern of yours (as it should be, I believe), so you need to remember, not all projectors are created equal, and not all HID bulbs/ballasts/etc are either. I think to get someone to make you a set using quality parts that will make you happy and meet your needs when using them could end up costing more than you might think- Also, for what's it's worth, don't forget there are multiple manufacturers that use HIDs in non projector housings from the factory- It's not a sin to do so!

Hid

Of course, manufacturers can use HID in non-projector housings in their cars as original equipment. The problem is that the non-factory housings can't be transplanted to the HHR, whereas the projector housing can. However, it does seem that cost could be prohibitive, particularly if one is not doing the labor himself. Furthermore, I would want to start with good, salvaged light assemblies so that there could be a way back to stock later. That would add additional cost compared to what the successful owner did utilizing his original housings (without ruining them!).
