Need Help With Valve Cover Finishing

I'm looking for some help from the group in regard to engine appearance.

This request does not involve my HHR, but rather my son's 2009 Cobalt LT. He has the 2.2 LAP and like any young guy, is anxious to pick up the pace with any mods that he can afford. A rear sway bar was the 1st mod. Now he has just installed the GMPP cold air intake. With that, the stock air cleaner/partial engine cover was removed.

The valve cover is now exposed with the Ecotec stamp in it. The aluminum does not have such a refined finish. What can be done to bring up the shine or add a custom finish to it so it will merge with the sharp appearance of the cold air intake tube?

Thanks in advance for any help...

Will it still pass emission testing with modifications to the intake system? We emission test here in Ontario the first being now at 5 years I believe, so one would never know until that time.

There website says 50 state legal for United States nothing for Canada. Your best bet would call CGS motorsports direct unless someone here knows the answer without a doubt.

Since he is young, I would go with the less money/more work approach and polish it. Can be done on the car if you have to.
Builds character.

New vehicles being shipped out of GM Oshawa are all 50 State legal no matter where they are going. So one would think your modification would be ok in Canada also.

With due respect......

If you are referring to th CGS intake, the last time I checked, IT WAS NOT CARB APPROVED. The easiest way to tell....reputable aftermarket part manufacturers will definitely STATE, CARB APPROVED and supply a sticker, for placement under the hood, stating so. They WILL NOT say, "MOST APPLICATIONS APPROVED" or "APPROVAL PENDING" (which means absolutely nothing).

If you are relying on the website statement.....good luck. It also states, "gains of UP TO 18 HP". If that bent pipe unit gives 18 hp gains (alone), I would be the first in line to purchase.
