Need Help With Valve Cover Finishing
I'm looking for some help from the group in regard to engine appearance.
This request does not involve my HHR, but rather my son's 2009 Cobalt LT. He has the 2.2 LAP and like any young guy, is anxious to pick up the pace with any mods that he can afford. A rear sway bar was the 1st mod. Now he has just installed the GMPP cold air intake. With that, the stock air cleaner/partial engine cover was removed.
The valve cover is now exposed with the Ecotec stamp in it. The aluminum does not have such a refined finish. What can be done to bring up the shine or add a custom finish to it so it will merge with the sharp appearance of the cold air intake tube?
Thanks in advance for any help...

well..depends on how much time you want to put into it..those lines will buff up with a dremel tool and a buff wheel..little compound..case of beer..there is chrome wire loom you can get from jegs or summit looks ok..or crack out the airbrush and sum stencils and make it very original!!if u have the k/n filter on the end of tube ive seen olot of guys make a cool wire cage (stainless)around the filter//nice job sofar!!!nice and clean..i like it!!

There website says 50 state legal for United States nothing for Canada. Your best bet would call CGS motorsports direct unless someone here knows the answer without a doubt.

With due respect......
If you are referring to th CGS intake, the last time I checked, IT WAS NOT CARB APPROVED. The easiest way to tell....reputable aftermarket part manufacturers will definitely STATE, CARB APPROVED and supply a sticker, for placement under the hood, stating so. They WILL NOT say, "MOST APPLICATIONS APPROVED" or "APPROVAL PENDING" (which means absolutely nothing).
If you are relying on the website statement.....good luck. It also states, "gains of UP TO 18 HP". If that bent pipe unit gives 18 hp gains (alone), I would be the first in line to purchase.

sounds like a question for our cobalt club members..I know the show in woodbridge..alot of guys had them..mind ya emission test in ontario are a joke..if it dont pass..just pay the $$$..drive it anyway...they call it "conditional pass"..I call it the aftermarket registation fee..lol
