i just looked it up in my Helm manual (just came in on Monday!) and it is a rediculously complicated procedure to remove the outer vents, involving the removal of the whole top and front panels of the dash, and to remove the front panel, you gotta do all sorts of stuff including removing the entire radio/HVAC controls, the console base that is where the shifter is mounted inside of (not jsut the outside, the entire core of it), drop the steering column out of the way, take out the gauge cluster...very involved project if you want to do anything with the outer vents.

if anyone has the PDFs of pages 2-36, 2-37, 10-73 and 10-75, that should for the most part give him direction for what he needs to do to accomplish it.

The center ones are pretty easy, just pry off the waterfall shroud and you'll figure it out. The outer ones, forget it.

May I ask why you want to?

Yonash has it right. The whole dash has to come off. The problem is getting to the screws that hold the vent.

This is how easy it is after you spend the 4 hours to get the dash out.

The ones I removed were the little non adj vents above the those which seem to be viewed in Brad's diagram and they did pry out.

those non-adjustable vents are for the defroster to defrost the side windows giving you visual access to your outside mirrors.

Brad, i'd like to thank you and your vast knowledge, along with the numerous times people have asked you for directions on so much stuff and giving me ideas of random stuff i wanna do to my car. i figured with how much oddball stuff i want to do i'd be asking you all sorts of questions all the time, every time i set out on a project, and that was what made me decide to buy this Helm manual. it's soo cool to finally know the answers for myself haha

Do the center ones, and you'll see that prying will break them. There are
hidden screw hole tabs. If you try to pry the effem up.

I asked why, because if you're painting the chrome, I did it. There's some pics in my gallery.
