Paint and dent removal.

Did I ever mention I'm cheap? No? I am.

So cheap, that I can't stand to pay the bodyshop $750 to fix the dents in my panel.

So.... I'm a gonna do it myself.

The Dents:

Paint filled to prevent rust.

Starting the work...

I'm sure everyone has seen paint sanded off, dents hammered out and filler applied, trust me it still looks the same.... so here's some midway shots of how it looks now with some finishing left to do.....

The deep one by the door was tough, couldn't ding it back out well, so it got some fill. Worst part is it distorted the edge so it took some doing to get an even edge back. The one in the middle of the panel came out 99% with a hammer and dolly.

Still need to smooth it out more and paint it. I'm not a bodyman, but I do OK I guess.

I think they charge extra cuz it's black.

I did some hail damage repair on a friend's Mustang a long time ago. Took me a week to smooth it all out, then he told me he was going to have the car painted black.... begged him not to, but he was set. I spent an extra 2 days block sanding that mutha.... when it was done I couldn't spot my work!

Black does sometimes cost more. Back when I was a bodyman I've had to re-do portions of jobs that felt perfect, but when the black goes on....... looked all wrong. Some shops just automatically charge higher for black, mostly hoping you'll just leave.

Looks good from the photos, mongo......

Thanks.

Like I said, I'm no bodyman, just not smart enough to know I don't know how to do it.
