Question for those that have installed a bug deflector

My Bugflector II came in today and am in process of installing. When I take the bolts off for the grill it is being a little bit of a bear to come off (grill) especially the center one

My real question is...there is a black liner I'll call it inbetween the grill and the hood....do you take that off with the grill or leave it on the hood? My guess is that it comes off with the grill and then you put the bugshield on and then the grill and the black liner piece back....

Which is it?

Also did you guys use the little bumper stops?

Ok got the damn thing on ...what a pain in the arse that was believe it or not...2 people would have made it easier I did it like I said above...hood, grill liner, grill. I forgot to put back the 2 small washers that go on the bottom bolts..the looked really flimmsy and not sure what their purpose was so hopefully this isn't a bad thing.

Word of advice for anyone taking their grill off for whatever....be very careful on the 2 bottom edges of the hood where it meets the grill...I managed to put 2 nice chips out of the paint there due to the edges of the grill hitting there while trying to take it out. Talk about cheap ass paint! The grill is plastic for crying out loud Once of them even went to the shiny metal I think. Talk about irony...put the guard on to protect against chips and put 2 in even before I road test the damn thing...

Have some pics and you can see what I'm talking about in the first one...actually doesn't look too bad...think it goes well with the color and will look good with the Vent Visors once I get them

That's what I've been saying since about week 2 of ownership.

Goose.....

Don't understand why you had so much trouble removing and reinstalling the grill Just interested in WHY. I've had mine off and on over a half dozen times and never had problems....and never even came close to scratching any paint. So, I guess I'm confused at what the trouble/problem was.

Do agree the paint appears to be on the "brittle" side, however.

Good question Snoop....it was hung up on the middle bolt and yes I did see the clippy thing that does attach to the body

It just didn't want to come out easy I guess...sort of po'd about the paint but whatever..it is done and dwelling on it ain't gonna change anything. At least it is in a spot that is hard to notice so the touchup doesn't have to be stellar

Snoop...what do you think about my question on those 2 washers? Did you notice them at all during take off? Also would you agree that the shield would be under the grill and the black backing on the grill? Wish the shield had holes in it so it would attach to to the hood a little more solidly and not just rely on pressure
