Rear Spoiler / Other Cars Fitment Question / Help
#21
Hi to everyone who replied to my original question. I am going to make a tasteful, stylish rear spoiler of some sort for my car, and if I can figure out how to download pictures on this site, let you all see it when I am done. I already know how to fiberglass. The lower picture of the spoiler on the Golf / GTI looks like what I have in mind - I am also looking at the rear roof spoiler on an Aveo. Thank God for wrecking yards ! Jennifer

An easy way to make a plug for your spoiler is to cover the back of your car with saran wrap. Cover it well beyond the area of the hatch. Get it to lay as smooth as possible. Start laying resin soaked cloth in the area that you want the spoiler to mount. Keep applying cloth and resin until you have a build up of about a quarter of an inch. Roll out or squeegee (sp) the excess resin and allow to cure. If you want you can put balsa wood stiffeners in the resin after the last coat.
When you pop it off you will have a mold to recreate the shape of the area where the spoiler will mount.
Now at this point you can trim the mold to use as a base for your spoiler or as a mold to make a plug to allow you to try various shapes and sizes of spoilers, all without using you car as a base for what you want.
Please feel free to PM me with any questions.
