I'm surprised that none of the Chevy after market vendors do this. I would be a little concerned with the quality of a vinyl overlay.

Old thread.... I dragging it back up because I removed the gold overlay today on the back... Sort of.....

It popped right off with my thumbnail. The chrome bezel is still in place, just the tinted gold piece came off.

It shows a little crack so I'm going to prime and paint the outside of it and glue it back on. Any glue suggestions? I'm thinking Shoe Goo because I have some..... 3M tape seems like it would be too thick.

It is originally held on with hot glue. When I reinstalled mine after repainting I used 3M tape. They do make a thinner 3m tape than the standard that you usually see. I believe I got it at Advanced Auto.

The "Shoe Goo" seems to have worked fine, sturdy now and they say 24-48 hours for maximum hold...... It's only been about 5-6 hours. I'll look for some thinner 3M next time I'm over at Advanced, see what they got..... I think this is going to be pretty permanent though.
