LOL... let's just hope the Limo company owner is true to her word and actually sends me the money. Hubby and I are leaving for a cruise this Monday, so if the check isn't in the mailbox when we get back, I'll go through my insurance and will still get the money.. maybe even more. I agreed to the lowest estimate plus $100 car rental for 3 days, but I'm sure my Insurance company will go for the middle estimate. We shall see....

When My HHr had to be repaired I only gave them 1 quote and only 1 qoute.
They only need 1 quote because no matter who you take it too they will have to get the parts from Chevrolet thats what my Body shop guy told me due to the HHr being so new. Good luck and have a great time on your cruise.

Thanks Z-Man, will do! As for the body shops, the other 2 never did work on HHR's and the estimate she picked is a GM Certified body shop, so if I were going to get it fixed, I'd go to them anyways. I'm glad you had no problems with your incident though. Take care and see ya'll in about a week!

Sindy...thanks for pointing them in the right direction. I remember back then we had links in several threads, so I put them all together and got some links when I was getting mine. They look good and the price is right.

While the parts price may be the same, the labor rates and what they think needs done can be very different. Standard practice is to ask for 2 or 3 estimates and then pay the lowest one. You have the right to have it fixed anywhere you want and an insurance company cannot tell you where to get it fixed, but they can pay the lowest amount and leave the balance up to you.

Stevlo, I used to be an insurance broker myself, so the middle estimate (in California) can be fought for, because it's the "average". The fact that the lowest estimate was from the only certified body shop among the 3, made me agree to the lowest estimate in re to my compensation.

Well, we got back from the cruise on Sunday. I didn't get the check, so I called the Limo Svs. She says she didn't want to send it while "I was away"... so I gave her the benefit of the doubt and a couple of days ago, the check actually arrived. Hmm.. time to check out those bumper guards and chrome trim for the bumpers...

By the way, I hope everybody had a wonderful Turkey-Day!!
