I may be mistaken BUT, I believe the OP is requesting info on using Night Shades Light Tinting spray NOT paint.

If this is what you are requesting, yes I tried it with, IMO, unsatisfactory results.

My first attempt was just applying the tint to the cleaned and degreased chrome grill....not good, it chipped very easy.

My second attempt was on a completely cleaned and degreased virgin grill. Applied the tint then 2 coats of clear poly.

I next tried a clean and degreased grill with a LIGHT coat of clear spray plastic, then a coat of the tint and then clear plastic spray. Was not happy with the look, although the durability appeared to be much better.

Your results may be acceptable.

I purchased 2 cases of night shades for something like $3.10 a can. My intent was do do all the chrome, as a substitute for black chrome, if I could find an acceptable process. I sold most of the surplus. Still have a can or 2.

EDIT:....By the way, I believe a couple of owners have used the Dura-Tint, that is made specifically for chrome in several colors. I believe than had acceptable results. Probably find their posts doing a search.

Snoopy your absolutely right i was asking about the spray tint, but now that it seems like a bad idea what about using spray paint? What is the proper procedure for doing this? such as prep work and using clear coats etc....
