in general, all you have to do is find a way to push in the unlock plunger and a way to hold everything together. Something i learned, make sure the plunger comes 100% of the way back up or you will not get your key out of the ignition.

parts list: 1/2" inside diameter tubing, 5/16" dowel or rod, 3/8" rod threaded with pipe connector, some sort of cap, felt washers.

plunger inside shifter

put the dowel in shifter and rod over dowel

slide the tube over and fasten it securely...i tapped and threaded mine, i wanted to use the dimple already there but if you tighten the set screw too much it locks the plunger in place, no shift, so i set the screw slightly higher...i used the felt washers at the top of the tube to keep everything from rattling. My cap idea was a little weak, am working on another design. I'm trying to do all this without the aid of machining tools. My parts, so far, have all been scrap i found at work (lucky me...) Now i just push down on the shifter to unlock, and it shifts like any other shifter. I decided to start with a long rod and cut it down gradually until i find the optimum height. won't start until the knob i ordered arrives...
