Hey guys, just thinking about painting/chopping my grill and I can't for the life of me find a good "how-to" on painting it properly. What kind of paint (plus clearcoat?) would you use and how do you properly prepare the plastic for paint? I'm talking glossy, durable, body matching (not necessarily same color) results here. My stock grill is a flat silver plastic, not shiney chrome(Black 09 HHR LT). There's a couple of "almost" how-tos on the 3 bar grill thing, but we are just told a brief overview of what was happening in the photos and at one point the grill is just *poof* magically beautifully painted with no explaination how. Thanks in advance for your help!

The SoCal HHR's resident artist and painter is Todd, aka UMA. He's painted and/or modified almost all of our grills (he painted mine pink, I added an overlay).

He would be a great resource.

Oh, hey, I missed the detail you added in the later pages. Cool, thanks! I was wary of using spray paint on a car. So a good quality spray paint works well? Even a regular spray bomb of clear coat?
